  May 2011 Commencement Details at U. Missouri

 NOTE:  We need every band member to be present for May 13th because we need to form two bands. THANKS FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION.

These ceremonies are important for the schools, and they sincerely appreciate our efforts.

FRIDAY, May 13,   JOURNALISM SCHOOL  -  Mizzou Arena                                                                                   

5:45 PM – Arrive.  Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

NOTE: MUSICIANS PLAYING THIS EVENT NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN COLLAPSIBLE MUSIC STAND.

 Park at rear of building.  No passes are necessary.  Enter rear door.

6:00 PM – DOWNBEAT - music, marches of our selection.

6:30 PM – “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE”.   

NOTE: At this point, some musicians will stay and some will go to Hearnes.  Wait until after the Star Spangled Banner has been performed, (unaccompanied), then at this point, all music must be packed up for delivery to the Hearnes.  Please QUIETLY box the music offstage.  If you are leaving, fold up your stand and exit QUIETLY and SLOWLY.   If you stay, keep a copy of the MU fight songs.    

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, Recess with TIGER FIGHT SONGS.

FRIDAY, MAY 13, 2011   GRADUATE SCHOOL  -  Hearnes Center

7:15 PM – Arrive. Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

 Enter building using vehicle ramp on west side of building across from stadium.

7:30 PM – Downbeat.  Music of our selection.

8:00 PM – Speaker approaches platform.  Band stops.  After a brief introduction, a regal                      trumpet fanfare is played  followed immediately by  “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE.”

                       “STAR-SPANGLED BANNER”  to be advised.

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, speaker will thank band, after which we                  immediately play ONE VERSE of the ALMA MATER.  Then without announcement, play a SLOW march.

NOTE:  Music, stands and heavy instruments can be stored overnight. (We must clear stage.)

 

SATURDAY, May 14,  COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE – Hearnes Center               

2:15 PM – Arrive. Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

   Enter building using vehicle ramp on west side of building across from stadium.

2:30 PM – DOWNBEAT – music, marches of our selection

3:00 PM – “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE”. 

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, play ONE VERSE of ALMA MATER after cue from speaker’s podium.

RECESSIONAL – TIGER FIGHT SONGS followed by a lively march.
